A POLICE chief in Gloucestershire has called for bans on drivers caught using their mobile at the wheel for a second time.
The county’s police chief constable said that a rise in offending showed that firmer limits needed to be put in place.
She added that the current lenient penalties could have the effect of making speaking on the phonr or texting while driving socially acceptable.
In a jab at government, Miss Davenport said that ministers will not enforce tougher laws at this time due to the looming May elections.
Currently being caught on your mobile while in control of a vehicle will see you receive a £100 fine and three points on your licence.
