FERRARIS, Morgans and 1950's cruisers were among the classic cars buffed up and put on parade to help the Allsorts charity take children with disabilities on adventures.

Tetbury Classic Car Show saw some 500 vehicles roll up, including shiny Airstream caravans, pre-war MGs, Rolls Royce Silver Ghosts and Second World War Willys Jeeps resplendent in D-Day livery.

The day raised about £8,500 raised which was divided between Allsorts, based in Stroud but with a number of members from Cam and Dursley, and the refurbishment of the Dolphins village hall.

Allsorts will use the money to extend its inclusive sports activities for children disabilities and additional needs and their families.

John Bevan, Tetbury Classic Car Club’s committee chairman and founder of the show, presented the cheque to Allsorts.

Mr Bevan, who is a teacher in Swindon, said: “It was lovely to see the work Allsorts do. They have a brilliant sensory room with fibre optic lights, star carpets, projectors and tactile sensory toys as well as beanbags to chill out on.

"The charity provides support for parents, and inclusive days out for the families.”

Nikki Michael, from Allsorts, said £4,000 would make a difference to the families the charity supports.

“This generous donation will help us expand our inclusive sports activities which includes everything from trampolining to climbing. Not only does it help the children with their fitness it is also a great social event.”
