POLICE are appealing for help to trace a young boy who was seen walking alone just before midnight in Chipping Sodbury.

The boy, who is estimated to be nine or ten years old, was seen walking on Wickwar Road in the late hours.

A woman driver stopped and spoke to the boy, who said he was fine and was walking to Yate and declined the woman’s offer of a lift.

She was concerned and called police, but despite an extensive search no-one was found.

No-one matching the boy’s description has been reported missing in this or any neighbouring police force area.

The police are carrying out more investigations today and are asking for the public’s help.

They would like to hear from the boy himself, or anyone who may know of a child going missing, or anyone who may have seen him in the Wickwar Road area at the time or later.

He is described as white, aged 9–10, around 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build with short brown hair. He was wearing a blue hooded top with the hood up and carrying a large camouflage rucksack.
