A BANNER for Ukip on a farm near Berkeley fell victim to a second bout of vandalism – just four days after it was first attacked.

The board, on land close to Billow Farm, near Berkeley, can be viewed from the A38 and was first vandalised on Monday

After a prompt repair the same day the news arrived today that the banner had been smashed to pieces.

Caroline Stephens is the Ukip candidate for the Stroud district. In the first act of vandalism her face, a cross in a ballot box and the union flag had been cut from the board.

After covering up the missing area just hours after the attack vandals returned last Thursday night and smashed it to bits, leaving just one corner intact.

Ms Stephens said: “British people believe in fairness and democracy yet over the past week, UKIP in Stroud have been unfairly targeted. For what reason?

“Let the people of Stroud decide and vote for true freedom and democracy on May 7.”

The land, and the "expensive" promotion of Ukip, belong to farmer Simon Pain. He remarked following the initial incident that the act of vandalism revealed a fear in the other political parties, adding that he would contact police regarding the incident.

The banner was first erected in the first week of April.
