THOUSANDS of shoppers are expected to flock in Chipping Sodbury to take part in a competition where sheepdog pups are hidden around the town for local explorers to find.

Last summer over a thousand visitors took part in the ‘Sodbury Sheep Search’, finding 25 lost sheep in shop windows with the winners becoming the new owners of the farm animals.

This summer the Sodbury Chamber of Commerce has revealed its latest competition where a sheepdog mum, looked after in the town’s tourist information centre, will be in need of help locating her puppies scattered around the town.

The ‘Sodbury Sheepdog Search’ aims to encourage visitors to explore the town and the wide range of shops and eateries and is a free activity with printed maps provided from the tourist information centre and other participating shops.

Rich McDonough, vice chair of Sodbury Chamber of Commerce, said: "The chamber was delighted with the enthusiasm of visitors who completed the Sodbury Sheep Search 2014 and we look forward to this summer's brand new search.

"From comments made to shop owners last year, visitors found it a fun way of exploring our historic town and discovering the wide variety of shops and eateries."

The Sodbury Chamber of Commerce, which represents nearly 40 businesses, aims to support local businesses and work together to make Chipping Sodbury a thriving town and sought after business location.

Last year the competition saw thousands of people search out 25 missing lambs hidden around the town by members of the Sodbury Chamber of Commerce.

The ‘Sodbury Sheepdog Search’ will start on July 11 and end on September 6.
