FIRE CREWS were called to rescue a 15-year-old who was hanging upside down over a cliff edge in Bristol.

At 10.06pm on Sunday night firefighters from Temple, Southmead, Avonmouth and Patchway fire stations were called the Blaise Castle Estate in Henbury Road in Henbury to reports of a young person trapped on a cliff edge.

On arrival at the incident firefighters found three teenagers and a dog involved.

A 15-year-old girl was hanging upside down over the cliff edge with to a drop of approximately 10-15 metres below.

She was being held onto by a 13-year-old boy.

An 18-year-old boy was also at the scene and a second 18-year-old was assisted to safety by ambulance crew.

A rescue team from Temple fire station were in attendance and one firefighter was lowered down to the group and was able to stabilise the situation and assist the 15-year-old to safety and into a harness.

All three and the dog were then lifted up to the embanked where they were assessed by ambulance crews.

The girl was taken to hospital with suspected wrist and neck injuries and the 18-year-old boy was also taken to hospital.

The 13-year-old boy was discharged by the scene ambulance crews.

The rescue which took place in thick undergrowth and total darkness took around three hours.
