A QUESTION time style event with the Yate and Thornbury parliamentary candidates filled a chapel in Yate with members of the public keen to put forward questions to the prospective MPs.
Cranleigh Court Chapel, on Cranleigh Court Road, hosted the event where the five candidates; Liberal Democrat Steve Webb, Conservative Luke Hall, Ukip Russ Martin, Labour Hadleigh Roberts and Iain Hamilton for the Green Party were in attendance.
Revd Ian Wallace said: "We had a very good evening with over 80 people present, we couldn’t have squeezed many more in and a few had to sit on tables at the back.
“The questions put to the candidates ranged from the economy, local issues, religious freedom, support for search and rescue of boat people in the Mediterranean and the related issues of the EU and immigration control.
“Most people agreed that the candidates had all given us an opportunity to learn something more or who they are, what motivates them and what their vision is for this constituency.”
