A NEW clerk has been welcomed to the team at Dursley Town Council.

John Kay will assume the role following the departure of Helen Bojaniwska, who, at the beginning of this month, began her new work as the clerk for Stroud Town Council.

Dursley’s mayor cllr Jane Ball said: “It is a great pleasure to welcome John to the team and we look forward to working with him over the forthcoming year.

“It’s never a dull day in Dursley and John will be at the centre of all of the town council’s work.”

Mr Kay said “I am really looking forward to the new challenge that working in Dursley will provide and getting involved in so many community projects and local issues that really matter to the community”.

It is set to be a busy year for the council and one of Mr Kay’s first challenges will be to organise the annual council meeting where a new mayor is elected on Wednesday, May 13

He will also take the lead on organising the annual town meeting on Tuesday, May 19, where local people can raise any issues concerning the town and listen to the head of the South Western Ambulance Service talk about the services they provide and their new out-of-hours service.
