THE police are appealing for the public’s help following a fail to stop incident in Bristol.

The incident happened on Gloucester Road near the junction with Elton Road and Zetland Road at around 3:40pm on Wednesday, May 13.

A cyclist was struck by a silver car which failed to stop at the scene and drove off towards Elton Road.

The cyclist, a woman in her 40’s, was taken to Southmead Hospital after suffering serious head injuries.

PC Richard Walmsley from Southmead said: “The cyclist involved in this incident sustained serious head injuries. A full investigation is taking place and we would ask that the driver or any passengers in the vehicle involved come forward and speak to us. We believe that they would have known that they were involved in a collision.

“We would also appeal to those who may have noticed damage to their vehicle which has appeared in the last few days or any garages that has repaired a car matching this description since Wednesday.”

The police would like anyone who knows the driver or has any information about the incident to contact them.
