THE BANK Holiday weekend saw the return of last year’s popular cider festival to a Thornbury pub.

Cider fans gathered at the pub throughout the weekend to try some of a selection of 20 varieties of cider whilst also raising funds for Thornbury Carnival.

All of the profits from the event’s successful barbecue will be given to the carnival to support their work.

The weekend drew in cider enthusiasts and curious passersby alike for the second annual festival at The Swan.

Pub landlady, Sandra Davies, said that the weekend had proven to be very popular despite the weather looking like it may disrupt things at times.

“Everything went really well. Saturday was a great day for the cider festival with great music and was really well-attended.

“The family fun day on Sunday was really good too and we had loads of people pop in to have a look at what was going on.”

The pub has a long association with many of Thornbury’s local charities, having supported groups including Thornbury in Bloom and Brain Tumour Support recently.

For half term the pub is running a series of events which will also be in aid of Thornbury Carnival.

Last year was the first cider festival held at the pub and combined with the weekend’s event has proven so popular that it will become a yearly thing.
