A BANK has announced its first charity partner in the Stroud district - an organisation that works to improve the environment and landscape of this part of the region.

A branch of Trustee Savings Bank (TSB) in Stroud has unveiled their first local charity partner as the Stroud Valleys Project.

The partnership was unveiled by branch manager Michelle Noel who presented the charity with a £100 donation from TSB to kick-start their partnership at the local branch in Stroud’s high street.

Instead of having a centrally chosen charity of the year, TSB partners across Britain are empowered to recognise local causes.

Stroud Valleys Project was nominated locally for the work it does in the community of Stroud by helping local people to care for and learn about the natural environment.

SVP works hard to improve wildlife habitats, community open space, landscape and access to the countryside all across the Stroud district, working with community groups, youth groups, schools, farmers and landowners.

They run a weekday conservation programme offering new skills, interests and opportunities for people who are unemployed, retired or just want to get out, explore and make new friends.

By becoming a charity partner, Stroud Valleys Project will benefit from fundraising activities by TSB partners working in Stroud.

The first event TSB is being involved in is the Charity Bike ride on Thursday, June 14, which starts at the Museum in the Park in Stratford Park and travels through the Gloucestershire countryside.
