AVON and Somerset Police are carrying out an investigation into an incident in Bristol in which a man suffered a stab injury.

The 24-year-old man was attacked in Lanercost Road, near the junction with Pen Park Road, at about 1.30pm yesterday (28/5).

He was taken to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and he’s now in a stable condition.

Investigating officer Det Insp Peter Highway said: “The victim was walking a friend’s dogs when he was approached by two men in the street and attacked.

“He suffered a single stab wound to the chest which required emergency heart surgery.

“He’s likely to have suffered life-changing injuries but these could easily have proved fatal.

“We’re treating this attack as attempted murder and are carrying out numerous enquiries today to try and identify the men responsible.

“I’d appeal to anyone who was in the Lanercost Road area of Southmead around the time of incident to come forward if they can help us with the inquiry.

“Did you see two men in the area, or leaving the scene? Do you have information on the identities of these men?”
