A SCHOOL girl from Yate who danced live on television on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ has described her experience as ‘amazing but tiring’ after succeeding in fourth place.

Brimsham Green student Eloise Stroud appeared on the talent contest as part of dance crew Groove Thing, and got through to the live shows to perform a routine to a 70s medley on Tuesday, May 26.

Year seven pupil Eloise, who travels to Wales every weekend to dance in the Port Talbot-based dance troupe, from TDM Stageschool and Dance Academy, said: “We never thought we would actually get through to the live shows.

“The experience was amazing but it was sometimes tiring. It was really nerve-wracking being on stage with the big audience but it was fun.

“We are still dancing, now we are doing a few gigs and have some performances lined up like festivals.”

The group of 12 dancers aged between seven and 11, who danced to hits including 'Boogie Wonderland' by Earth Wind and Fire and Chic’s classic 'Le Freak', performed in front of celebrity judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams at London’s Wembley Arena.

Eloise’s mum Lisa said: “They came fourth in their semi-final which was amazing, and only one spot off of getting through via judge’s decision.”

Groove Thing’s first audition, a hip-hop routine to 'Shake Your Groove Thing' by Peaches and Herb at their first audition in Birmingham on May 16, received four ‘yes’ votes.

The performance took them through to the semi-finals of the show with the hope of winning the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance in front of members of the British Royal Family and receive a cash prize of £250,000.
