THE £25 million expansion of Yate Shopping Centre has filled 70 per cent of its tenant occupancy after the announcement of its two latest retailers.

Frankie & Benny’s restaurant and Pets at Home are the most recent tenants to sign-up for units at Yate Riverside, the cinema-led development in Link Road.

American Italian themed restaurant, Frankie & Benny’s, will be one of six eateries located adjacent to the Cineworld six-screen cinema complex.

Pets at Home will be the second of three new retailers in the scheme, with clothes store Next having already been announced as a tenant.

Shopping centre manager, Andy Lowrey, said: “These are two more high quality names to add to the ever growing list of retailers and restaurants represented and interested in coming to Yate.

"The interest shown in the new Riverside development is very encouraging and we are still talking to new tenants interested in taking space in the town.

“Construction is on schedule to hand over the restaurant units to tenants in September and the cinema in December for fitting out and openings in December and next Easter respectively.”

Group property controller Mark Hull, of Ivypark Limited, the appointed Asset Managers for the owners of Yate Shopping Centre and Yate Riverside, said: “We always knew that this development would be of great interest to retailers but as owners we have got to ensure there is a good mix that will appeal to the general public.”

Work on the complex started on February 9, and the first shops are due to open later this year, and then the cinema by spring next year.
