THIS shocking creature paid a visit to the Gazette offices in Dursley yesterday afternoon.
It was brought in to the Long Street Gazette hub by Cheralyn Morgan, who found it in her garden in the Woodfields area of Cam.
"I went out into the garden and it was waddling across the lawn. It was the pink colour of its back that caught my eye," she said.
"At first I thought it was a leaf, but then thought 'hang on - it's a creature. What the hell is it?'"
The insect has a pinkish hue across its back which Ms Morgan described as being very bright when seen in the sun.
It also appears to have wings of some kind sprouting from its head area, though they were black and withered.
Ms Morgan continued: "It's horrible. I don't want it in my garden. I don't want it in Dursley."
The best guess staff at the Gazette could come up with is that it is a moth of some kind.
In a surreal moment a Stroud district councillor for Dursley Doina Cornell, who happened to be in the building for an unrelated story, removed the lid of the jar and released the unidentified creepy crawly into a box for a quick photoshoot before it was returned to Ms Morgan.
She left with the bug in its new jar home with plans of taking it to a butterfly sanctuary.
