A NEW mobile app has been launched by a council in Gloucestershire to help people with disabilities into employment.

Gloucestershire County Council’s Forwards employment team has joined up with the Department for Work and Pensions and Prospect Training Services to develop the app to provide support on the move for people with disabilities.

It has a range of functions including the locations of Forwards work clubs, tips to help with applying for jobs, where to look for jobs and help with interviews.

The council already had a solid track record in supporting people with disabilities into employment.

It has increased the numbers of people with a learning disability in work from 6 per cent to 19 per cent over the past two years and is keen for other disabled people to benefit from this support.

Vikki Walters, employment commissioner in the Forwards team, said: “The new Forwards app is a perfect example of where we are trying new and innovative ways of engaging and supporting people, especially young people.”

The app is available to download for free for all smart phones.
