POP superstar and TV presenter Peter Andre has congratulated an Almondsbury pupil who won a national competition.

Nine-year-old Finley Williams created a story called Fug, The Stone Age Brain Box which won the CITV Share a Story Wild Card competition and will now be made into a short animation.

Paul Smith, head teacher at Almondsbury C of E Primary School, said: "We are very proud that Finley was chosen as the Wild Card winner of the Share a Story competition. He is a very imaginative young man with a great sense of humour.

“His story was inspired by the topic he was doing in school, at the time, about the Stone Age. The curriculum is creatively taught at Almondsbury and fuelled Finley’s imagination and enthusiasm to want to enter.

“He was very surprised when he was called up to accept his certificate and prize for winning. It is the first time I have seen him speechless! I hope that Finley’s success will encourage more entries next year."

Finley - who described his victory as “amazing” - and his parents will be travelling to Manchester in August to do some filming and voice overs for the animation which will be aired at a later date.

CITV paid a secret visit to the school to announce the winner via video clip featuring Peter Andre.
