STROUD International Textiles has just announced plans for a three day festival this autumn.
This is Craft: A Celebration of the Handmade will take place from October 23 to 25.
Presented by SITselect, the aim of the showcase is to profile making and celebrate creativity and the handmade.
The Select Showcase has talks, workshops, exhibitions, a one day conference and demonstrations with over 150 participating artists.
There will be 78 makers’ stands, four colleges of art and design showing graduates' work, an area featuring world textile stands and exhibitions of contemporary craft work.
Learn something new, buy something unusual, or just delight in the creativity of the designers and crafts people.
Speakers are: Penny Wheeler and Mary Rose Watson discussing their work with Theo Wright; Carole Waller on a life in textiles, Jilly Edwards and Ismini Samanidou talking tapestry with Felicity Aylieff; Malcolm Martin of Martin and Dowling persuading us that the hand is critical to the essence of making, Matthew Harris ‘Making and Unmaking’ Central Saint Martin’s Head of Fashion, Allistair O’Neil and Inge Cordsen Director of Livingstone Studios talking about their vision with Raag Studios.
