Police are appealing for witnesses after a man stole cash from a 13-year-old girl in Abbeydale, Gloucester.

The teenager had been cycling home at about 7.30pm on Sunday evening, when she got off her bike in a small wooded cut-through leading from Lobley's Drive onto Upton Lane.

A man came up behind her, lifted her off her feet, put her down again, then snatched a £20 note from her hand before running off towards Lobley's Drive. In the process, he hit her face, although it was not believed to be intentional.

Neither exchanged any words. The girl, though not seriously injured, was left shocked and confused.

The thief is described as white, about 5ft 10ins tall and was possibly wearing black jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 375 of 26 July 2015.
