A MAN was left with a broken jaw and a woman threatened with what she believed was a knife in two robberies in the Tredworth and White City area of Gloucester last week.

Officers are appealing for anyone who has information about the incidents, which they are linking, to come forward.

The first incident happened in Hatherley Road near to the Norville factory at 9.55pm on Wednesday (12 August).

A teenager was attacked by three males all wearing dark clothing and balaclavas. They demanded his bike and when he failed to hand it over they punched him numerous times, breaking his jaw and causing other facial injuries.

The second incident happened near the end of the ash path between Bibury Road and Tredworth Road at 9.30pm on Thursday (13 August).

A woman in her 20s was walking in the area when she was confronted by a group of 8-10 youths who were stood at the exit to the path near Tredworth Road.

As she approached they put on balaclavas and hoods before one of them demanded the woman's phone. Initially she refused and the male grabbed her hat. Believing he was carrying a knife, the woman pushed him away before kicking him in the chest, causing him to fall into a bush. In the meantime the woman jumped over gates onto Tredworth Road and called the police.

The group are described as teenagers and one is believed to be a woman with mousy blonde hair.

Detectives investigating the case now suspect a third robbery took place in the area earlier in the week and prior to these two cases. However, the victim has not yet come forward.

Anyone with information, any witnesses or anyone who saw a large group of youths in the area at the time of these cases is urged to call 101, quoting incident 498 of 12 August or 480 of 13 August.

Local Sergeant Matt Puttock said: "These are shocking incidents and I understand they will cause concern.

"Local officers have been briefed about the cases and the areas are being regularly patrolled for reassurance and to deter further offences.

"Inquiries remain ongoing to trace those responsible but we would urge anyone who can help us or with concerns to call 101 or email 101@gloucestershire.police.uk. If you want to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
