A VILLAGE hall in Uley was "full of happy people" during their annual show – despite poor weather having an impact on some of the entries.

Around 150 people turned out to Uley Show on Saturday where a number of prizes are awarded each year for vegetables, fruit, flower arrangements, cookery, preserves, photography and more.

Chairman of the Uley Show Len Freeth has organised the event for the past 11 years.

“The indifferent weather did have an effect on some of the entries, particularly fruit and vegetables, but otherwise it was good," he said.

“The hall was full of happy people, and, while our show may not be as large or elaborate as others, people do consider it a nice village occasion.

“All in all it was very nice, and people were very complimentary to meet for organising it again.

“I’ve been doing it for a while but we still make alterations here and there to try and get new people in.”

Coming out on top in vegetables was Jo Rymer, while David Barnett came first in fruit. Claire Pritchard won in here category of flowers, Jenny Cox in flower arrangement, Hilary Weeks in handicrafts, Maureen Wakefield in art and Miriam Salman in photography.
