HATTIE Briggs is opening the Stroud Folk Festival at the Sub Rooms on September 18, at 6pm.

Going from strength to strength, 22 year-old singer-songwriter Hattie Briggs, is gaining album and performance reviews wherever she goes in the UK, and now Europe beckons …..

Hattie quit Oxford University in the 2nd year of her Russian degree to start her music career in January 2014. Since then, her music has been played on TV on BBC 2, BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6 Music as well as many regional BBC radio stations.

Just over a year later she released her debut album ‘Red & Gold’ in April via her own label ‘Wise Dog Records’. The album reached number 1 on the Amazon Digital Folk Chart and number 20 in the iTunes singer-songwriter chart shortly after its release.

“If you appreciate well written music, sung beautifully and played exquisitely then this will definitely be something for you” – So So Gay Magazine Her latest single ‘Tilly’s Song’, written for her best friend, showcases the playful side of her songwriting. The summery, uptempo arrangement is powered by catchy banjo and lead guitar parts, but it is the layers of sweet vocal harmonies that make this song so joyful and uplifting.

Key live performances include the BBC Introducing stage at Wychwood Festival, a 25 gig national support tour, a main stage showcase at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Den stage at Cambridge Folk Festival, and supports with Seth Lakeman and Grant Nicholas.

Inspired by the likes of Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, Hattie recorded her debut album at Monnow Valley Studios, produced by Peter Waterman (Joss Stone/Uriah Heep/Emma Ballantine) and Dan Cassidy. Her second album is now well under way.

2015 gigs/festivals included: Upcoming Stroud Gig - 6 pm, 18th September - Stroud Folk Festival at the Subscription Rooms. With Lisbee Stainton, New Rope Band and Steve Tilston.
