ORGANISERS of Yate’s Relay for Life are celebrating their second most successful year ever.

The 24-hour event in July raised £41,891 for Cancer Research UK.

The total is the second highest total ever raised by Yate Relay for Life and takes the 10-year total to over £314,000.

Chairman of the organising committee Helene Craddock said: “Everyone taking part in Relay should be incredibly proud of their achievement this year.

“Thank you to everyone who took part or donated time and money because your money will help us beat cancer sooner.”

More than 320 people took part in the fun relay, which involved 23 teams walking, running or dancing around the track at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex. There was also stalls, live music and a lap of honour for cancer survivors.
