THE maternity team at Southmead Hospital is calling all babies born there over the past 30 years to celebrate three decades of the central delivery suite.

The delivery suite opened in the autumn of 1985 and babies born since then are being asked to come forward.

Mums who gave birth in the suite since it opened and midwives who worked there are also being asked to share their stories to help the team celebrate the landmark anniversary.

Southmead Hospital midwifery matron, Cathy Molloy, said: “We are really excited to be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the delivery suite at Southmead Hospital.

“With thousands of babies born at Southmead every year it is important that some of the people who have started their lives here should be part of these landmark celebrations.

“If you were born or gave birth here over the 30 years, or if you were one of our midwives who has now retired we want to hear your stories, so please get in touch.”

North Bristol NHS Trust is particularly interested in hearing from families with special stories about babies born in the unit.
