AN animal charity is appealing for rescue organisations in Yate to come forward for financial assistance ahead of the opening of a new pets store in the town.

Support Adoption For Pets, a charity which helps rehoming centres and animal welfare organisations, is offering support to local groups in conjunction with Pets at Home which is opening a new shop in the Yate Riverside development later this month.

Since being established in 2006, Support Adoption For Pets has helped over 920 rehoming centres and animal welfare organisations across the UK by awarding grants and running fundraising campaigns with Pets at Home.

The Yate branch of the store will be the first to open in one of three new retail units at Yate Riverside, which also includes a Cineworld cinema and six restaurants, on October 30.

Justine Quirk, PR and communications executive at Support Adoption For Pets, said: “Our local charity partner scheme, in association with Pets at Home stores, has continuously been very successful across the UK and we can’t wait to be able to support an animal cause in Yate.”

Volunteers and staff at animal charities, rescue centres and welfare organisations in the Yate area are urged to nominate themselves to join the charity’s partnership scheme.

The scheme offers support from both Support Adoption For Pets and the local Pets at Home store through a range of activities, including the chance to increase awareness and funds via in-store ‘meet and greet’ events and also eligibility to be nominated and take part in the national fundraising drives run by Support Adoption For Pets during the year.
