A LORRY left Dursley after making a delivery over the weekend - with the driver not realising there was a thief or thieves in the vehicle stealing tobacco and cigarettes.

The offender/offenders climbed into the rear of a delivery lorry while it was unloading at the Coop in Rosebery Road, but the driver, unaware of his unexpected passengers, closed the lorry and continued on his rounds.

The driver was heading to his next delivery point on Kingshill Road when he was forced to stop at a roundabout near the turning for Blackboys by a greenish blue Renault Megane Scenic pulling in front of him.

There was also a second vehicle, believed to be a black Audi A5, behind the delivery lorry.

While the lorry was stopped the driver became aware that his rear door was open and a substantial amount of tobacco and cigarettes were missing.

Gloucestershire Police are appealing to anyone who may of seen this happen, either at the Coop or on Kingshill Road.

In particular, details and descriptions of the thief/thieves getting into or out of the lorry; the vehicles involved, including registration numbers, and any descriptions of people in these vehicles.
