THE community of Yate is expected to come together to remember the fallen on Remembrance Sunday.
The town council is organising the annual parade from Poole Court on Sunday, November 8 (9.15am) to St Mary’s Church where a service of remembrance will take place.
The parade will include members of the Royal British Legion, local dignitaries as well as Scouts, Guides and Air Cadets.
The church service, which is usually packed with people wishing to pay their respects, will be followed by wreaths being laid at the Lych Gate and the sounding of the Last Post. There will also be a short act of remembrance at the town’s Parnall grave, which honours the 55 men and women who died when German bombers attacked the former Parnall factory on Station Road in 1941.
Afterwards, refreshments will be served in the Old School Building at St Mary’s Youth Centre.
All are welcome.
