A COUNCILLOR who has been off duty after suffering with heart problems last month has praised staff at a Gloucestershire hospital for their work.

County councillor for Dursley Steve Lydon was treated was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital after experiencing heart failure, where he was in a cardiac support unit in a room of his own.

He has now spoken to the Gazette commending the “seamless” team at the hospital and describing himself as a “grateful patient”.

“I wish to thank the staff at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. After being a recent patient with chronic heart complaint, I found the level of care second to none,” he said.

“What struck me most was the way staff from all over the world from many different backgrounds work together as a seamless team, focussing on the patient.

“They are a credit to modern Britain and the NHS and I am a grateful patient.”

In previous editions we revealed that Cllr Lydon had returned home but that it would likely be several weeks before he fully recovered.

Readers in the Dursley area will most likely be familiar with Cllr Lydon and his work fighting for local causes including transport and bus services and traffic lights.
