DIFFERENT cultures will be explored during a special event in Thornbury later this month.

The Thornbury and District Make Poverty History Group is hosting the event on Tuesday, October 27, with the theme of ‘Hope in Action'.

Three speakers will give fascinating presentations during the event, which is part of this year’s One World Week - a charity that encourages increased understanding of different cultures from around the world.

Marian Stephens, secretary of the Thornbury and District Make Poverty History Group, said the free event is open to absolutely everyone and people are encouraged to attend.

“Within Thornbury we have local people, young and old, working with poorer communities around the world,” she said.

“Come to hear more positive and amazing stories in this year’s event.

“We will hear from Betty Cornes-Tomkins about the Egbogidi village in Nigeria, Dan Potter about work he’s been involved with in Uganda and Helen Harrison on a project in Ethiopia.”

The event takes place at St Mary's Church Hall will open at 7.15pm for a chance to look at cultured displays.
Refreshments will be provided later in the evening.
