TYTHERINGTON Remembrance Service was graced with a fortunate dry spell at the weekend for the parade organised by the village's branch of the Royal British Legion.

The Remembrance Sunday parade to St James’ Church was followed by the traditional service at the village’s war memorial.

Members of the legion were joined in the march by local Air and Sea Cadets and the St John's Ambulance Badgers.

Thornbury Town Band were also in attendance, but not marching, playing for the both service at the memorial and in the church.

“The weather was kind to us.” said Ted Travell, of the Tytherington Royal British Legion branch, “we were pleased overall with how the day went.”

He added “We had about 200 people in attendance and it was very nice to see everyone looking so smart.

“Obviously not everyone was able to fit into the church, but it was great to see such a large turnout.”

Thornbury also held its annual parade from St Mary’s Street car park. A civic service followed at St Mary’s Parish Church, with the laying of wreaths.
