STROUD'S MP has joined the international condemnation of last night's terrorist attacks in Paris.

Stroud MP Neil Carmichael said on Twitter: "The attack in Paris on our values through innocent people is utterly monstrous & must be resisted.

"My heart is with the victims and families."

At least 129 people have been killed in attacks carried out by eight gunmen and suicide bombers in the French capital, organised by Islamic State (IS) militant group.

The targets included bars, restaurants, a concert and a high-profile football match.

A national state of emergency and three days of mourning have been declared by France's President Francois Hollande.

At least 180 people were injured in the attacks, making it the deadliest peacetime attack in France and the worst in Europe since the 2004 Madrid bombings.
