A CALENDAR has been produced by Alveston residents to showcase the beauty of the village’s surroundings with a series of walking tours.

Produced by the Alveston Parish Council and Alveston Community Forum, the calendar, now in its second year, aims to get people active and more connected with their local area.

Each month of the calendar features a different walk, ranging from two miles to 13 miles, all starting from Alveston and moving on to different neighbouring parishes.

“We have branched out this year, the new calendar features walks that stretches to places like Frampton Cotterell, Bradley Stoke and even up to the Severn Bridge,” said Cllr Marcus Fry who has been involved with the project over the past two years.

“As it is the second year of the calendar, we wanted to try and appeal to an additional demographic this year by adding longer walks for the public to try.

“We have been working on the calendar since March to ensure we capture the seasonal aspects of each time of year on the pages.

“A number of the pictures have come from Ken Pearce from the Thornbury Camera Club, for which we are very thankful.

“We are also thankful for the efforts of Lindsey Saunders and her public right of way team.

“Each page is sponsored by a different community group or local business, with the calendars themselves are being sold through the community groups as well as local schools and scout groups, with all profits going to them.”

The calendar is also available through contacting the Town Clerk on the parish website www.alveston.org.
