AN elderly couple had to be rescued from their car after three cars and a lorry crashed on the M4.

The man and woman, both in their eighties, were cut free from their vehicle by firefighters after the pile-up on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway between Junction 20 (Almondsbury Interchange) and 19 (M32).

Eight crews from Avon Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene at 4.51pm on Thursday, January 14.

All other drivers and passengers have got out of their vehicles before crews arrived. The elderly man and woman were treated by paramedics at the scene.
