AMBITIOUS plans to develop a 100-acre Eco Park on land near Eastington have been dubbed as a potential ‘game changer for Gloucestershire’ by local property consultants Bruton Knowles.

Partner and Commercial Team Manager Angus Taylor said the Eco Park would help redefine the county’s commercial landscape, bringing much-needed new build commercial stock to the market and at the same time improve the local infrastructure.

He said: “We believe Ecotricity has presented a dynamic vision for the Eastington Eco Park and this represents one of the most exciting commercial developments in the region for decades.”

“Our passion for innovation is as strong now as it was when Henry Bruton and William Knowles first founded the partnership back in 1862.”

“We regard fresh thinking, and a can-do attitude as the lifeblood of our economy – and our future. It is great to see such a well put-together plan that provides much-needed quality commercial space.”

As well as the £100m green technology park, Forest Green FC will also get a new 5,000 seater stadium as well as state-of-the-art sports facilities, a nature reserve and a transport hub – all tipped to create up to 4,000 jobs.

They also plan to complete a missing section of the Stroudwater canal.

Angus said the scope of the planning application demonstrated why this is one of the most dynamic development documents he had seen in Gloucestershire and the potential impact on the local commercial property market could bring significant long-term benefits for Gloucestershire.

“While there are still healthy levels of brownfield land for commercial development, the county is crying out for quality space.

“We believe the Eco Park could be a real game changer for Gloucestershire.”

Ecotricity founder Dale Vince said: “We’re delighted to have the endorsement of a company with the history, expertise and reputation of Bruton Knowles for our Eco park concept.”
