JUNIOR doctors from Gloucestershire will offer members of the public free training in CPR during their next strike.

Across the country between 8am on Wednesday, April 6, and 8am on Friday, April 8, junior doctors will withdraw non-emergency care as part of an ongoing dispute with the government over contracts.

Members of the public are invited to drop into The Friendship Cafe between 10am and 12pm on Thursday, April 7, to learn the simple measures people can take to save lives in an emergency.

Surgical junior doctor and British Medical Association representative for Gloucestershire Royal Hospital Oliver Old said: “CPR can make the difference between life and death, and having the knowledge and confidence to perform these simple measures until an ambulance arrives could mean you save someone’s life.

“We encourage everyone who can to visit us in The Friendship Café to learn these life-saving skills”.

Junior doctors emphasise that emergency care will still be provided at both Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals as usual on the strike days, and anyone requiring urgent medical attention should still attend A and E.

If members of the public have any questions regarding the ongoing dispute they are encouraged to discuss them with junior doctors at the Friendship Café during the CPR lessons.
