You can buy a house in Preston for the price of a Ford Fiesta but the cheapest property in Cambridge will set you back the cost of a Ferrari California

• House in Hartlepool (£26,000) on the market for the price of a VW Golf GTI

• Or how about a flat in Liverpool (£20,000) for the price of a Skoda?

• In London, the cheapest property (£99,995) will set you back the cost of an Aston Martin DESPITE UK house prices hitting near record levels, it’s still possible to find a bargain on the property market.

Research by online estate agents HouseSimple.com has found some of the cheapest properties currently for sale in the UK, that are literally the price of a new car.

How about a property for the price of a Ford Fiesta?

In Preston, there is a flat for sale in Ribbleton for just £15,000.

A new Ford Fiesta Titanium will set you back £15,295.

While, in Hartlepool, you could pick up a two-bed terraced house (£26,000) for the price of a Volkswagen Golf GTI (£26,895).

HouseSimple.com has looked at the cheapest properties currently for sale in 30 of the biggest towns and cities across the UK, and found the equivalent priced car.

While in Liverpool you could pick up a one bed flat (£20,000) for the price of a Skoda (£19,640), in Cambridge, a bargain is a little harder to come by.

In fact, the cheapest property currently for sale in Cambridge (£160,000) would cost you as much as the stylish Ferrari California (£154,000-£176,000).

And the bargains are also a little thin on the ground in the historic university city of Oxford, where the cheapest property currently for sale is a one bed flat, on the market for £130,000, the same price as an Audi R8 (£119,500-£137,500).

Surprisingly, it is possible to pick up a property in London for less than £100,000, with a one bed flat in Tilbury on the market for £99,995.

On the other hand, you could throw caution to the wind and buy an Aston Martin Roadster instead, which retails at around the same price (£101,344).

Alex Gosling, CEO, online estate agents HouseSimple.com, comments: “It’s hard to believe that you can still buy a property in the UK for the price of a Ford Fiesta and a house for the price of a VW Golf GTI.

“However, it may be a little flamboyant and probably a little reckless to spend your entire property budget on a Lamborghini, even if it would look great on the driveway. But this research does prove there are bargains to be found on the property market, even with average house prices at almost record levels – it just requires a little research and probably a lick of paint!”
