BUDDING thespians are invited to take part in a new Gilbert and Sullivan production, to be staged in Stroud next year.

Following a sellout run of “The Pirates of Penzance” at the Cotswold Playhouse in February, Stroud-based theatre company Glitter & Twisted have booked the same venue for a seven night production of “H.M.S. Pinafore” in April 2017. “Our home town gave us a clear message”, said music director Suzanne Barnes, “that it was a good time to be bringing fully-staged Gilbert & Sullivan shows to Stroud. Audiences really seemed to enjoy our rather different take on a classic Victorian musical.

Director Simon Moss added “we were thrilled that so many people came along who had never seen G&S on stage before.

The staff from Milano’s Café in Russell Street enjoyed our “Pirates” so much that they have even started going to the theatre for group outings!”

Rehearsals for HMS Pinafore start on 25th Sept, and will be on Sunday afternoons.

The show’s concept will be announced on Sunday May 1st at 2pm, at the Cotswold Playhouse, followed by open auditions for ensemble and principal roles.

“We are always looking for talented new people, 16 to 80” said Simon, “and no experience is necessary – if you think you can act and sing, and are keen to take part, then we’d love to meet you”.

The company is also looking for backstage crew and technical staff.

Much more information about the auditions, including what to do if you can’t make it to the Playhouse on May 1st, can be found at www.glittertwisted.com or by calling Simon on 07775 704052.
