A BOWLS club from Olveston have neared the final stages of its new clubhouse ahead of the opening next month, with a contribution of decorative flowers.

The donation of decorative plants for Olveston and District Bowling Club came from Almondsbury Garden Centre, along with a financial contribution of £250.

The club are now in the final stages of completing their new pavilion in Olveston, with a grand opening set for June 25.

“We are delighted that Almondsbury Garden Centre have given us so much support, and are very appreciative for their help,” said club chairman Graham Ellis.

“It is really encouraging to see locally based companies putting something back into the community.”

“It is a big year for us as we will soon have our new clubhouse, which will open later in the summer.

“These beautiful flowers will go a long way to enhance the clubhouse and really make it a beautiful place.”

Richard Truscott, marketing manager at Almondsbury Garden Centre, said: “Being at the heart of the community is something we pride ourselves on.

“The club are big supporters of ours and it is a privilege to be able to support them back.

“We have had some lovely comments from visitors to where they play, saying how nice the plants we have previously provided are. It is really nice to hear.

“But the club are the ones who should take the credit, they look after it all so well, anyone who wants to see an immaculate lawn should visit them.

“While the plants we have given them are worth around £300, they will look so much more than that when decorating the new clubhouse.”
