PREPARATIONS are almost complete for Yate's own music festival taking place the same weekend as Glastonbury.

The Yate Rocks community festival in Kingsgate Park will take place this Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 and promises to offer something for all the family.

A line up of local bands including Atlantic, Seduction, Dockside, Midnight Tides, Limited Edition, Avalanche, Van Burgundy, and the young, newly formed Tail Lights will take to the stage in the popular park on Saturday, June 25 (12-8pm). There will also be performances from a number of local dance groups including Yate Star Twirlers, Kathryn Hurley Academy, Stagecoach and REDDS.

Children will be able to play on trampolines and giant inflatables and there will be football games, side shows, pony rides and a fire engine stationed in the park.

An arts and crafts area and community stalls will offer a wide range of local products and novelties for sale and Wickwar Brewery will run a beer tent.

Then on Sunday, June 26 (10.30am-12noon) a praise in the park service takes place in conjunction with local churches and a relaxed picnic in the park, with music from Westerly Showband, takes place from 1.30-3.30pm.
