A MULTI-VEHICLE collision and a separate vehicle fire on the M5 have resulted in miles of stationary traffic this afternoon.
Both incidents have occurred on the M5 southbound, resulting in severe congestion between Weston-super-Mare and Thornbury.
Lanes are beginning to open after the multi-vehicle accident in between the junctions 16 and 17 for Aztec West and Cribbs Causeway, and the vehicle fire is near junction 21 at Weston-super-Mare.
Highways England have said they hope for normal traffic to return by 4pm.
