CLASSIC cars and motorbikes will line up in Frenchay this weekend for the village’s annual vintage vehicle day.

This year the show, run by Frenchay Village Museum in conjunction with Frenchay Flower Show, will celebrate 70 years since the founding of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club.

Alan Freke, museum curate, said: “This annual event is completely free, and attracts a wide variety of vintage bicycles, motorcycles, and cars - all owned by local enthusiasts.

“There will be many other interesting vehicles including some very old cars, and bicycles, as well as fast 60s racing cars.

“There will be plenty to see in the museum, as we have an ever changing display on the story of Frenchay Hospital. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a chance to see the Radio Lollipop window rescued from Ward 24 just before it was demolished.

“There’s also a new display marking the 200th anniversary of the opening of Whiteshill Evangelical Church.”

The vintage vehicle show takes place this Saturday, July 16 (2-5pm) in the car park inside Entrance B of the former hospital. Anyone wishing to display a vehicle should arrive between 1pm and 1.30pm and phone 0117 9570942 in advance.

A flypast by a World War 2 Lancaster is scheduled for around 2.35pm, subject to weather. Free vintage buses will take visitors to Frenchay Village Show where the flower show is taking place.
