TWO teenage boys had a lucky escape when a falling branch narrowly missed them as they played football in a Dursley field.

The two boys, believed to be around 14 years old, were playing football on the green off Cambridge Avenue when the branch of a nearby tree came crashing down beside them at about 4.15pm.

Both boys are unscathed.

Some commenters have suggested the tree is suffering from rot.

One Dursley resident who witnessed the aftermath of the incident said: "If it had hit the boys it would have killed them.

"It must have been rotten and surely should have been checked."

More to follow.
