THERE will be an opportunity to explore the lives of soldiers and their followers in the English Civil War on Sunday.

Berkeley Castle will host Charles Gerard’s Regiment of Foote, a group part of the Sealed Knot Society, on Sunday, September 4, offering the chance to find out how a 17th Century military campaign would have been run.

The Royalists will give visitors to Berkeley Castle an insight into the lives of people over 350 years ago.

There will be a lively encampment, displays of arms and the opportunity for old and young to participate in the training of the King’s men and to join in with popular games from the period.

Military pursuits such as sword play and use of pike and musket will take place throughout the day.
