AN ELDERLY woman in Dursley has been left very distressed after two cold callers tried to scam her.
The men knocked on her door on Orchard Leaze offering to clean her carpet. Once inside they tried to sell her a hoover for £2000.
The victim’s daughter came home. Realising that it was a scam she managed to get the men, who were very persistent, to leave.
The men are said to have foreign accents. They left the scene in a white Audi which had a foreign registration plate.
Police are urging the public to be vigilant following the incident.
Members of the public are asked to avoid cold callers who turn up, or ring unexpectedly, offering to sell items or carry out repairs or work.
Their advice is not let them into your home, and use a chain across the door to speak to them. If they refuse to leave, call police on 101, or 999 if it’s an emergency.
