A CRASHED white truck was left abandoned on the bend at Coombe Road in Wotton-under-Edge. It would appear that the driver had misjudged the corner and careered off-road into the bushes at the side of a field.

Police were called at 2.45pm on Monday, September 26, after it was reported.

Gloucestershire police said: “A white van, missing two wheels, was seen abandoned at Coombe Road. The van was recovered because of its dangerous location.”

Police were directing traffic around the vehicle which hung precariously over on its right side. It looked unbalanced with only part of its right two wheels still touching the road.

A recovery vehicle came at approximately 5pm to move the vehicle.

The police have been attempting to contact the owner who left the scene.

A farmer who was watching the scene said: “I own the field behind, luckily the sheep are all okay.

“The driver has disappeared. I reckon he had a drink and shot off.”
