TRAFFIC was at a near standstill on the M5 between Stroud and Thornbury this evening due to a "burned out van".
The vehicle was said to be partially blocking the southbound carriageway, causing tailbacks all the way to the Stroud junction.
An eyewitness said there was a "burned out van", adding: "There are clean up crews on site but it's causing tailbacks to the Stroud junction."
Traffic started to move again at around 6.30pm.
