THERE will be fun for all the family at the Cam Christmas lights switch-on event this year.

Entertainment on offer will include fairground rides and real snow, children’s TV character appearances, music and delicious food and drink.

The event will take place around Cam High Street and Noel Lee Way from 2.30 – 4.30pm on Saturday, November 26.

Top children’s TV characters from Paw Patrol will make a guest appearance for the event and a real snow machine will give a festive feel in the area outside Cam Parish Council and the Berry Blue Café.

Anne Kitchin, from the Cam Traders Association which organises the event, said: “We think this is going to be our best year yet. Local businesses and organisations in Cam have been working together to put this event on for the community and we hope everyone turns out to enjoy it.

“There will be plenty for all ages to do, game and rides, lots of delicious food and drink, music and even guaranteed real snow!”

Shops all down the High Street will be open and offering special activities for the event. The memorial hall will have a Santa’s grotto, 20 local stalls and a barbecue. The High Street will have a music stage, festive donkey rides, face-painting, lucky dip and a scooter track with a best ‘festively’ dressed scooter competition.

Meanwhile the fairground will be in the council car park with the snow machine, and in the same area there will also be a hot homemade soup station, sweet treats, food and drink and children’s craft activities.

There will also be an Ice Grotto with Elsa and Anna, chocolate fountain and bauble decorating.

A raffle has been put together with over 50 prizes and raffle tickets can be bought from local traders ahead of the event.

The Christmas Lights will be switched on at 4.30pm by the Paw Patrol characters.

Cam High Street will be closed to all traffic on the day between 2-5pm, from outside A1 Appliances to China Chef. There will be access to Tesco, Chapel Street and Fairmead from Cam Pitch. Drivers are advised to use Manor Avenue as a diversion.
