MORE than 49,000 homes across South Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire were left without electricity this morning following a series of power cuts.

The cut, which occurred just after 9am, lasted nearly an hour, with homes being affected across the county in the BS30, BS35, BS36 and BS37 postcode areas, along with some homes in the GL9 and GL12 areas.

A spokesman from Wester Power Distribution said that the cause of the power cut was still be investigated after they had lost supply from the National Grid.

He added that while all homes had power restored, they were still working on restoring power to a solar farm in South Gloucestershire.
