A YATE woman who was injured in a collision on a zebra crossing has offered her thanks to everyone who stopped to assist her.

Sue Evans, 53, was crossing Scott Way on route to the gym on Friday, November 11, when the incident occurred.

The South Western Ambulance Service was called at 10.43am by people who left their cars to offer help.

“I don’t really remember being hit, but I remember being in great pain afterwards,” said Sue.

She was taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment of a fractured pelvis and bruising to her head.

Police were also called at 10.50am, and were in contact with the driver involved who remained at the scene.

Sue added: “The policeman said I was very lucky to have had such good people around to help me.

“I wanted to say a big thank you to everybody who stopped.”

Sue is now recovering at her home in Yate with the help of her husband, other family members and her friends.

“I was in hospital for two weeks. Weight must be kept off of my right leg for six weeks, I use a zimmer frame, and my bed has been taken downstairs.”

On recovery time, she said: “It will take four months – at least.”

Police were in contact with her husband a week after the incident but they are yet to hear how the investigation has progressed.

The police have been asked by the Gazette for a comment.
