THERE was a packed house of 160 at the Blue Coat School in Wotton on Saturday night with a record 12 acts through to the final of the much-anticipated The Edge Factor competition.
The atmosphere was electric with all the performers getting a great response.
The winner of an extremely close contest was 12-year-old singer, pianist and composer Josh Goodchild who just pipped last year’s runner-up Mollie Swain.
FUZE, a new street dance group of five from the Ruth Osbourne School of Dance, were third.
The four judges, all talented people from Wotton, were actor Nik Howden, bassist Paul Marshall, community choir leader Liz Martin and music teacher and singer/guitarist James Aldridge. The judges offered great constructive feedback to all the acts.
The Edge Factor is the successor to Wotton’s Got Talent and plans for 2017 are already in hand.
Co-chairman Martin Clarke said: “It’s a privilege for us to showcase the extraordinary talent pool.
“The spirit of the event is so positive and Under the Edge Arts loves running it. Next year it’s time for more parents and grandparents to step forward.”
